Durban Safari

Durban is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Southern Africa, with a diverse and rich culture. Durban boasts the busiest harbour in Africa, an entertaining nightlife and endless beaches. Durban is the biggest city in Kwa-Zulu Natal. First discovered by western travelers on Christmas day in 1497 by the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, the word Natal is Portuguese for Christmas. It is thought the first inhabitants arrived around 100 000 BC, according to carbon dating of rocks found in the Drakensberg mountains. The famous Zulu king and warrior 'Shaka' ruled Durban and it's surrounding areas.

"The Golden Mile" as it is known is a four kilometer stretch of beach running from Ushaka Marine World to Sun-coast Casino. Packed full of restaurants, nightclubs and tourist attractions, visiting this area is a must during your Durban holiday. Durban is constantly buzzing with activity. International Cricket and Rugby fixtures are played year round at Sahara Kingsmead stadium and the ABSA stadium Kings Park respectively. Durban plays host to Africa's biggest horse racing event each year, known locally as 'The July'. A tent city is erected on Greyville racecourse, fashion trends are set and millions are won and lost on some of the worlds finest race horses. The Mr Price Pro is a six star surfing event which traditionally was held at Durban's North beach, but has been moved a bit further up the coast to Balito due to its growing popularity.
