Ithala/Emdoneni Safari4 days, 3 nights
Day one - Leaving Durban for our Safari, we travel along the coast to Zululand. Arriving at the luxurious Emdoneni Lodge we settle down for lunch. We then take a tour of The Emdoneni Cheetah Rehabilitation Centre. Here you will learn of the Emdoneni's efforts at conserving, Cheetah, African Wild Cat, Serval and Caracal (Lynx). You will have the opportunity to enter some of the enclosures to get up close to these endangered cats. You will view a cat feeding session, conducted by your tour guides. Dinner will be served in the lodge restaurant. Day two - Leaving Emdoneni in the morning we make our way to Ithala Game Reserve. Ithala Game Reserve is situated just below the Kingdom of Swaziland. This majestic reserve is considered one of the most beautiful game viewing areas in Southern Africa. Arriving mid morning we check into Ntshondwe camp 'Winner of three consecutive AA Travel Guides and SAA Resort of the Year awards'. The rest of the day is spent enjoying game viewing with your tour guide. Dinner will be at the camps restaurant.
Day three - Getting off to an early start, you will have a full traditional breakfast. Setting out for a full day’s wildlife viewing, we will have the chance to spot four of Africa’s 'Big5'. The absence of Lion seems to have a relaxing effect on the resident herbivores. We will visit Ithala's well positioned hides, to sit and view animals such as Giraffe, Buffalo and Elephant coming to quench their thirst. Returning to camp in the afternoon, guests will have time to themselves to take in the days adventures. Relaxing by the camps pool and stocking up on curios at Ntshondwe's shop are recommended. Dinner will be at the restaurant, either a buffet or a set menu. There is a bar for those who fancy a drink whilst discussing the days viewing. Day four - Our final morning is spent enjoying breakfast, before embarking on game drive to see Ithala's nocturnal residents before they retire to sleep for the day. The chance of seeing Black Backed Jackal, Leopard and Hyena are increased at this time of the morning. The rest of the late morning will be spent game viewing, with an early lunch being taken before our return journey.
